The Heart Of Retailing
Merchandising systems are the core of the retail enterprise and the software market for theses systems has been a mature business for many years. However, two significant changes caused a recent and dramatic shake up in retail merchandising. The first is the explosion in the Internet as a direct channel. Retailers can no longer choose an either/or strategy – being either a direct marketer or a bricks and mortar retailer. Consumers today expect access to retail brands through the Internet. And for businesses, the advantages of cross channel promotion are too extreme to ignore. Although some strides are being made, traditional merchandising systems are ill-equipped to manage the cross channel requirements of today’s retailer. Secondly, modern computer platforms and languages are again changing the programming and computing paradigm. Open platforms, n-tier architectures, and web-services are changing how technology is developed, deployed, integrated and maintained. Most core retail merchandising systems are struggling to catch up with these changes.
PRA helps companies improve their merchandising capability. We also help them navigate the enterprise landscape to make wise build or buy choices as well as evaluate, select, integrate, improve, and if necessary, build merchandising systems.
